Key takeaways
- You can take the prompts from the Buyer Brief book straight to ChatGPT and run the target audience research process yourself.
- The core of any campaign is defining the who — the specific target audience persona that becomes the North Star for your content.
- A done-for-you blueprint starts with a simple intake form; submit it and a full report arrives in your inbox within one to two business days.
Should you use ChatGPT or a done-for-you service for buyer persona research?
Either works — it depends on how close you already are to marketing. You can take the prompts from the Buyer Brief book directly into ChatGPT, build your own GPTs with them, and run the target audience research yourself. But if you’re a business owner rather than a marketer, and you struggle with being too close to your own product, working with a service to do the research for you is often the faster path.
What is the actual value of the Buyer Brief book if ChatGPT can do the prompts?
The book lays out the process and the exact prompts for building a target audience persona, and nothing stops you from running that process yourself in ChatGPT. The value some people pay for isn’t the prompts themselves — it’s not having to build the process, apply the right context and brand information, and interpret the output, especially if marketing isn’t their core skill set or their business’s core operation.
What does the buyer persona process actually focus on?
Every campaign or initiative — regardless of type — needs an end target audience: a customer, client, or partner. The process centers on identifying who that ideal target audience is and building a persona around that segment, so it becomes the North Star guiding the content created for the campaign. AI is also useful here for surfacing sub-segments inside the research — insight and inspiration for expanding into new campaigns while staying focused on the core segment.
How does the done-for-you blueprint process work?
- Fill out a simple intake form and answer a few questions.
- Hit submit.
- Wait one to two business days.
- Receive a full report delivered to your email inbox — described as full accelerated briefs, sometimes 50-plus pages, with detailed, actionable language and messaging plus additional bonus content.
Who is each option best for?
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT + Buyer Brief book prompts | Business owners willing to run the research process themselves, or those already building this into their marketing systems |
| Done-for-you blueprint | Business owners and entrepreneurs who aren’t marketers by trade and want the research and content strategy handled for them |
The company is also open to partnering with marketing agencies that want to integrate this process into their existing client workflow.

What’s going on, guys — Darby here at Gen AI University, and in this video I’m going to be talking through a question that we do get asked quite often when I’m giving presentations: “Hey Darby, you just gave us all the prompts from your Buyer Brief book — why don’t I just go and do this in ChatGPT and just ask it for prompts? What is the point of working with you to do it for me?”
Frankly, there are a lot of ways you can go about this. You can go to ChatGPT, you can put the prompts in there, you can take the prompts we give you in this book, you can build your own GPTs with them. You have a lot of training around this, and while some people who are a bit more technical and more marketing-savvy than others might be able to pick up on this process much faster — you may already be doing a lot of this in your business anyway — the fact is there’s a large segment of the people we work with who are just business owners and entrepreneurs, not necessarily marketers per se, and marketing is often a sticking point for putting the ideas we talk about in this book into action.
It’s because everything, regardless of what kind of campaign or initiative you’re working on, is going to have an end target audience — whether it’s a customer, a client, a partner program, whoever you’re trying to reach in your marketing. It’s going to come down to the who: that ideal target audience, and developing a persona around that specific segment so you can keep them as the North Star for the content you’re going to be creating in your campaign.
So as we cover in this book, the process of creating a blueprint for speaking directly to a segment of your target market is where everything starts. But there’s also a lot of sub-segments you can identify and find inside your research that AI is great for — having as insight and inspiration for how you can expand and grow into different campaigns, while also keeping it narrow and focused toward that specific segment.
So while yes, you can go and do this instead of ChatGPT — yes, you can follow the instructions, the prompts, and the commands we lay out here inside our Buyer Brief book, and do it yourself — if you’re not necessarily trying to build this out as part of your core operation, you might want to work with somebody like us who can do this market research and content development strategy for you, so you can focus on the areas you specialize in within your business.
While I understand the book and the content isn’t for everyone — if you are a small business owner, or you work with small business owners, and you struggle with being too close to the product and understanding your buyers — this book will help you do it. But also, our blueprints are done for you: full accelerated briefs, 50-plus pages in some cases, super detailed, actionable language and messaging, plus additional bonus content that we throw in as we continue to create and iterate on our own systems. All designed to help busy business owners and entrepreneurs with big ideas get clear on their target market and develop the language and messaging that helps them reach their audience where they’re at in the customer journey, all the way through to doing more business with them.
So you can get the book, you can go through the process yourself — heck, you can even go to ChatGPT right now and ask it for some prompts that could help you come up with your target audience. But if you want to go a step further and want to do it the right way — providing the proper context, the right brand information, everything that goes into creating an effective buyer brief — it all starts with a blueprint. It all starts with a simple intake form: just answer a few questions, hit submit, come back in one to two business days, and you’re going to have a full report ready for you delivered inside your email inbox. I would call this the easy button.
If you’re not already a marketer, or someone looking to build this as part of your marketing system, you can learn how to do it yourself through this book. And we are open to partnering with marketing agencies to integrate this process into your existing workflow. So one way or the other, there are a number of ways to work with us in helping you get inside the mind of your market. Reach out to me and get the book if you haven’t already. If you have any questions, you know where to find me. Keep commenting, and see you in the next video.
