How to Connect Claude to Anything: The MCP Setup Guide (2026)
Claude is most people’s smartest tool and their most isolated one. It can reason brilliantly about your business and see none of it — not your inbox, not your notes, not your files. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) closes that gap. It’s the open standard that lets Claude work directly inside the tools you already use, no code required. Connect a few and Claude stops being a chat window and starts being an AI Chief of Staff.
What MCP actually is
MCP is a universal adapter. Instead of every app building a custom Claude integration, MCP gives Claude one standard way to plug into any tool that supports it — Gmail, Notion, Microsoft 365, Granola, Firecrawl, Gamma, and thousands more. You authorize the connection once, set what Claude can touch, and from then on Claude can read, search, and act inside that tool from a single prompt.
The universal setup
- Open Connectors in Claude. Settings Connectors.
- Add the tool you want. Pick it from the list.
- Authorize and scope it. Sign in through the tool’s own login, review the access, and approve. Start read-only if you want to watch before you let it act.
- Send one prompt. Ask Claude to do something only that tool’s data makes possible.
- Chain them. The real power shows up when two or three connectors run in one prompt.
The starter stack
Each of these is a sub-five-minute setup with its own step-by-step:
- Connect Claude to Gmail — read, search, draft, and triage your inbox.
- Connect Claude to Notion — build and update pages and databases without leaving the chat.
- Connect Claude to Microsoft 365 — Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Connect Claude to Granola — pull your meeting notes into Claude instantly.
- Connect Claude to Firecrawl — give Claude real web-scraping and research power.
- Connect Claude to Gamma — turn Claude’s output into presentations, docs, and sites.
Why connect more than one
One connector is a feature. Three is a system. Once Claude can see your email, your notes, and your calendar in the same prompt — “Summarize this morning’s meeting from Granola, draft the follow-up email, and add the action items to Notion” — you’ve stopped doing the work and started directing it. That’s the whole idea behind an AI Chief of Staff: one brain, every department.

In this video, I’m going to show you how to connect Claude with Microsoft 365 so you can access SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams directly inside of Claude.
First thing when you log into Claude, select your plus sign, go to connectors, and then manage connectors. Here you can see the connectors in my account. Go to plus, browse connectors, start by typing Microsoft, select connect to connect Microsoft, continue with my Microsoft 365 email, and then it will sync up with access to SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams directly inside of Claude.
