Deie explained that connecting Gamma to other tools was one of the most requested features from power users, who wanted to move ideas from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini directly into Gamma instead of copying and pasting. Businesses also reached out wanting to pipe data from CRMs or research tools into Gamma’s visualization layer rather than building their own. And philosophically, Deie framed it as part of a broader shift from AI as a question-answering tool to AI that takes action - which requires APIs to connect tools together.
Before the demo, Deie pointed attendees to developers.gamma.app as the primary resource: full documentation of API parameters, character limits, credit costs, and card-split behavior, plus a Slack community for questions and rate-limit updates.
For the live demo, Deie built a Zap with Google Docs as the trigger (new document in a specific folder) and Gamma as the action (Generate a Gamma). The use case: a consultant or salesperson takes meeting notes in a Google Doc, and Zapier automatically turns that doc into a follow-up presentation deck. Deie noted it’s worth keeping a human-review step before sending anything to a client, though a fully automated send-and-email flow is also possible.
