How to Customize and Train AI for Better Business Results

Key takeaways

How do you customize AI so it actually knows your business?

In this workshop clip, a participant named Michelle shares her method: she builds a bio document she shares with AI before asking it to do any work. For client projects, she doesn’t rely on her own bio. Instead, she asks the AI what information it would need to complete the task well, turns those questions into a client questionnaire, and uses the answers to build a document she can paste into AI at the start of a project.

What does the workflow look like step by step?

  1. Ask AI what it needs to know from you in order to accomplish a given task.
  2. Take those questions to the client (when working on a client’s behalf) and gather their answers.
  3. Compile the answers into a bio document specific to that client.
  4. Copy and paste the document into AI before starting the actual work.

Why keep a separate bio for each client instead of one general bio?

The speaker notes that when she’s doing work for a client, she doesn’t use her own bio — she builds one for the client instead, since the AI needs the client’s business context, not hers, to produce useful output for that engagement.

Is this a full tutorial or a discussion clip?

This is a short excerpt from a live workshop Q&A, not a structured tutorial. The host opens by asking attendees what they’re currently doing to customize and train their AI and where they feel they’re cutting corners, and Michelle’s answer above is the response captured in this clip.

I would love to hear what you currently are doing to customize and train your AI, and to identify maybe components where you’re thinking, “Do I cut corners here, and how can I close the gap?” so that when I am working with AI, I am working with it in a way that is allowing me to really get it to know more about my business, so that it in turn is generating better results. What are some things that you’ve run into, some things that are working for you?

Michelle: So I’ve created several different bios that I share with AI before I start asking it to do things. And if I’m doing it for a client, it’s not my bio — I asked AI what it needed from me in order to accomplish this task, and then I took all of those questions to my client and, you know, asked them those questions, gathered that information. And then that helped me create this document that I basically upload, or I copy and paste, into AI and said, “This is the client that I’m working for.”
