How to Uncover Marketing Insights with AI

Key takeaways

How can you use AI to find marketing insights across different customer segments?

Run your market segmentation (such as a buyer blueprint) to list out your different offer targets, then ask ChatGPT to identify connections, correlations, or commonalities between those segments. From there, ask ChatGPT what lead magnet could solve the pain points that overlap across those segments, which leads to a more focused and effective piece of content than trying to create separate messaging for every segment.

What example is used in the video?

The example comes from a live workshop with Kelly Tenney, who was targeting coaches and consultants for her teacher-balance business. After running a buyers blueprint, she had about ten different offer targets to potentially create content for. Rather than building separate lead magnets and messaging for each one, she worked with ChatGPT to find what those ten segments had in common.

What questions did Kelly ask ChatGPT?

  1. She shared her different offer targets from the buyer blueprint and asked whether there were any connections or correlations between the segments.
  2. ChatGPT identified unique characteristics, traits, or overlaps among the segments.
  3. She then asked ChatGPT what potential lead magnet could solve the top pain points shared by those overlapping segments.
  4. ChatGPT kept working with her through that process, which led to a more refined and focused lead magnet speaking to the shared pain points across her market.

Why does this approach work better than targeting each segment separately?

Creating unique content and messaging for every individual market segment is a lot of work. By first identifying the pain points that multiple segments have in common, you can create one focused lead magnet that speaks to more of your audience at once, attracting more of the right people into your network in a way that’s still specific to the problem you solve.

Hey, Darby here, and in this video I’m going to be sharing a quick tip that I picked up this week from one of our live workshops. It was actually from Kelly Tenney. We were demonstrating the buyers blueprint and going into the different market segments that we were diving into and dissecting.

We started with Kelly’s market. She was targeting coaches and consultants for her teacher-balance business, and we took the initial buyers blueprint, and at the bottom of it, it had a few different offer targets. So that was: what are some different variations of the target market that your offer could be positioned to within the master buyer blueprint that we created.

What was really interesting was that after Kelly had run this brief and had these different offer targets laid out in front of her, obviously it’d be a lot of content to go and create different lead magnets and messaging for each one of those ten, and you could certainly do so. But what Kelly did was she took the insights that she got from those top ten and then started working with ChatGPT and her buyer brief, asking it simple questions like, “Hey, based on these different targets of my market, are there any connections or correlations that you can make that might show some commonalities between these different segments of my market?”

From that question that Kelly prompted ChatGPT with, it identified a couple of different unique characteristics or traits or things that might overlap among these different segments of the market. So with those insights, Kelly then took it a step further and started working with ChatGPT on this: based on the things that kind of cross over amongst these different segments of her market, what is a potential lead magnet that could solve the top pain points of that market segment?

ChatGPT then kept working with her to go deeper down that rabbit hole, which ultimately led her to making a much more refined and focused lead magnet that’s speaking to different segments of our market, but to the commonalities and the pain points that they may be experiencing.

So just to consolidate her efforts: Kelly did the research and took a high-level view at the different segments within her overall market, and then used AI to help with identifying some commonalities amongst these different market segments. With those commonalities, she identified the common pain points associated with them, and then used that to create a lead magnet that speaks directly to those pain points, thus attracting more people into Kelly’s audience and network who she can help solve that specific pain point for in a unique way that only Kelly can do.

So that’s a quick tip in terms of your approach with using AI for problem solving and identifying unique problems for the customers and clients within your market. Go deep on your overall market segment, then look at the different targets within your market that you might be speaking to, and work to identify the different commonalities amongst the different targets of your market to create even more focused content, lead magnets, and engagement and messaging to land on the ears of those customers and clients and open up more conversations to discuss your offers and your services to help them with solving that problem.
