How Founders Leverage AI to Turn Expertise into Profit (Live with Pickaxe)

What is Pickaxe and what does it let founders build?

Pickaxe is a no-code AI tool builder. Users can build “studios” — branded, white-labeled collections of chat bots and agents that can do things in the world or advise people. Founders can license their own IP and frameworks, monetize their own or their clients’ expertise, create subscription businesses, and build AI-powered lead magnets, all accessed through a website that can be fully branded to match the founder’s needs.

What real-world results have come from using Pickaxe?

In this live conversation, host Darby shares two case studies from tools he built with Pickaxe. A studio built for real estate agents analyzes a home, zip code, and price point to produce a “buyer snapshot” agents use when building relationships with potential sellers — one agent reported it helped close over $100K in additional commissions from winning listings. A second tool, a call analyzer, ingests sales call transcripts and produces a feedback report against a trained framework, then routes prospects toward booking a strategy call; it’s used as a free, value-led lead magnet.

What new features is Pickaxe adding?

  1. A new builder that lets users describe the tool they want in conversation rather than writing prompts manually, lowering the barrier to entry for non-technical founders.
  2. A Zapier MCP connector in progress, letting a Pickaxe studio connect to any MCP-enabled tool (Notion was shown as an example) so outputs can trigger actions in other platforms, such as generating a Gamma presentation directly from a Pickaxe interaction, without manual copy-paste.
  3. Continued work on SMS support, alongside AI-assisted setup for MCPs and actions, which Nathaniel says have historically been confusing for users.
  4. Direct embed integrations with platforms like Circle, so a Pickaxe studio can run inside a community post, gated membership page, or site like WordPress or Webflow — with connected embeds able to build a consolidated profile of a user across multiple bots on the same site.

How does live tool-building work inside Pickaxe?

Later in the session, Nathaniel builds a studio live from an audience idea: a prompt reminder tool for a behavior analyst’s hearing-impaired patients who need medication reminders. The discussion walks through scoping the problem (reminders that work through AI-connected hearing aids) before building out the tool, illustrating the “speak it and the AI structures it” approach of Pickaxe’s newer conversational builder.

Where can I try Pickaxe?

The video points viewers to GenAIU.com/pickaxe for 10% off the first three months, with a free tier available to get started and try the product before any usage-based monetization kicks in.

Microsass with Pickax. Pickax is a no-code AI tool builder. You can build studios. You can license your own IP, your own frameworks. You can monetize your expertise, your client’s expertise, create subscription businesses out of it, create AI powered lead magnets that lead with value. And they recently just raised some funding to continue to build the great stuff that they’re doing over there at Pickax HQ. But Nathaniel, welcome on to the summit. We got a 30-minute spot to talk a little bit about Pickax, what you guys are building, what you’re doing. Good to see you, man. It’s been a month since the last one. And how you doing?

I’m doing all right. Thanks so much for the intro. It’s good to meet everybody. If you are thinking about starting a business and powering it with AI, Pickax is a really good option. We’ve got the ability for you to set up a series of chat bots or agents that can go out and do things in the world or advise folks and then package those things all up into a little AI studio. You might call it a website where you can access these tools to folks or just control access if maybe you don’t want to sell access. And the whole thing can be branded and white labeled so that it meets exactly the needs that you have.

Yeah, that’s great. And Pickax, like I mentioned, I’ve built a lot of studios for different clients and different projects, different use cases for Pickax myself, and the use cases are a few different areas that I find myself using them for personally. One is actually creating a subscription, a Micros type of tool with a very specific use case. Like last summit we were talking about a recent case study with a tool for real estate agents that helps them close more listing appointments and win more listings to actually sell houses — the tool we developed with Pickax helped one of the agents. They gave us the feedback recently: it helped them close well over 100K in additional commissions from winning those listings as a result of demonstrating their value as an agent, specifically with the studio we built. And Pickax was the studio that was powering that build. So I love to see those wins because it’s not me closing and making those commissions myself, but it’s the people that we’re building the tools for that are actually out there in the world using AI inside of their business and workflows. And that was one really solid win from the real estate side.

The other example I just shared on a workshop this morning was creating a call analysis tool with Pickax that we’re using as a premium, lead-with-value type of GPT where sales reps can have their sales calls analyzed. It provides constructive feedback and is part of our discovery process for that particular project that we’re building out. That’s actually a free tool, but we’ve developed the prompting, the instructions, the knowledge base to be super relevant and really valuable for that really specific use case. I just wanted to share a couple examples of how I’m using it actively. And I know you’ve got some more stuff that you guys are doing and capable of beyond just that. So, is there anything new in the world of Pickax that we should know about?

We launched this new builder which basically can go through and help you build tools without needing to do as much prompting yourself. Now you can just start talking to it and say build me XYZ tool and it can go and get you started pretty easily. So we’re trying to lower the barrier to entry there. I’ve been playing around and I think I’m pretty close getting set up with this Gamma connector. I was hoping to demo it today, but I think actually I’ll just have to make a video and send it over to you. But Zapier has this Zapier MCP product, and so you can use that to connect any MCP here directly to your Pickax so that it can do anything that any of these MCPs are able to do. And I’m excited to start to use that to even connect to more things than you could already connect with.

I want to touch on that real quick if you don’t mind — one of the things on last month’s summit that someone brought up a couple times was how do we simplify and remove friction from going back and forth between a lot of these tools. Even right now, if you generate the output in a Pickax, you’ve got to copy and paste it over into a Gamma and create a presentation there. But what I’m picking up from what you’re putting down, correct me if I’m wrong, Nathaniel, is that once this Gamma integration with Zapier is locked in, we’ll be able to trigger the creation of new Gamma presentations directly within a Pickax. Is that on the right track?

Exactly. That’s exactly on the right track. And in general, just MCPs and the ability to connect to them through Pickax are letting you connect anything with anything as we make this a little bit more of a seamless connection. You can see I’ve got Notion set up here, but it just looks like you’re going to not ever have to copy and paste or move between tools.

Love it. I saw maybe somebody sent a message in the chat. I was just letting people know they can get 10% off their first three months when you go to genaiu.com/pickax. So for those that are interested, I think you guys have a free trial also that’s totally free to try. Free to try product, and in fact you can get a lot of usage for free. We even let you set up monetization. Really people pay when they start to have a lot of usage, which we do start to see some people getting to as they put the tool out there in the world and either start monetizing it or just use it as a lead-gen tool.

One thing that I’ve really liked in terms of the use cases as well is on that lead-gen front — now you can embed Pickaxes that are gated into your own platform, which means that if you’re running a GoHighLevel portal or you’re getting something on WordPress or a Webflow website or behind a community membership. I won’t get into too many details right now, but I even saw that you guys had a direct integration with Circle, which is cool because now if you have a Circle community you could embed a Pickax directly in a post, which previously I was like, that would be really cool if you could do it, and now you can do it. I’d be curious to know if you’re going to be doing that type of integration with other things like Skool in terms of communities, but another really relevant one would be Substack for me personally — we’re just transitioning our newsletter over to Substack. Just an idea. I know you’ve got tons of ideas on this type of stuff, but I really like the integration within these platforms, because if you’re making a post, you’re now AI-powering your post and giving people the ability and enabling them to actually — oh, you can do this, oh, and by the way, you can use your Pickax literally right here inside of a Circle post. Really cool. I hadn’t seen that before. I was just playing around this week and I was like, oh, that’s awesome.

Yeah, I’m actually looking at Substack right now, but definitely something we should take a look at. We really try to — any one that’s possible to set up on, folks will message us and we will make it custom. And the cool thing about these embeds is that they all talk to each other. So if you’ve got multiple different chat bots across your site, you can build one consolidated profile of your user — who’s using it, what they’re doing, who they are. Build a summary of them, even have that summary or the summary of those conversations emailed to you so that you can really get a sense for who’s on your site, what they’re doing, what they want, and reach out to them.

Incredible. What else should we know about Pickax? Like right now, you mentioned SMS in one of the previous summits too. How is that coming along?

Still coming along. Excited about SMS. Really the big improvement has just been the new builder and the ability to talk through improvements with your tool. And that’s going to be helping folks set up these MCPs and actions, which have historically been confusing for folks. So if you are intimidated by that, then don’t worry, because the AI is going to help set those things up as well. We were just doing a demonstration before this on Zapier agents. Are you familiar with how their agent canvas works? I see some parallels to this too, where if you see it, you speak it, then the AI helps you structure what you want into a way that can actually get built. And this is brand new — I just noticed it like a couple days ago. So it threw me for a loop because I was like, what’s going on here? This is new. It’s pretty cool.

I like the direction. Can we maybe start a Pickax from scratch and see how we might go about building that process, so people can kind of conceptualize how they could voice and speak a Pickax to life?

Totally. Yeah. What should we build? Let’s see. Let’s take some ideas from the audience and see what we can get creative here. Who has an idea for a GPT that they’d love to give away for free for their audience, or maybe even monetize potentially? Speak now or forever hold your peace. I see some eyes lighting up here on the screen, so I know some people have some ideas.

No, nothing. If anyone’s got ideas — Donna, I knew it, I knew it. I could see you thinking over here. I could feel the energy, Donna. All right. So Donna says, “Okay, I am a behavior analyst. I want to create a prompt for the patients who are hearing impaired.” Interesting. Okay, behavior analyst, want to create a prompt for the patients who are hearing impaired. Can you talk to me real quick, Donna? What is the problem that you’re looking to solve with this prompt?

I want to take their medicine at specific times.

Okay, any other context around — they use AI hearing aids attached to their cell phones.

We can try maybe starting here and see what we come up with. They need reminders that work efficiently. Okay, I’m almost wondering if that could be a thing that sends automated text or WhatsApp reminders to a patient to take their medicine at specific times. Come on, hear a bell ring or something — good morning Joseph, it’s time for you to take your orange juice and the red pill, for example, and maybe they’re a young adult living alone but they don’t remember to take their meds. So what they have — the AI hearing aids on, which are waterproof, there’s a product from Starkey and it’s an artificial intelligence hearing aid, but it can attach to their phones. So if there’s a…

[The session continues with Nathaniel walking through building the studio live, then closing out the summit segment.]

Once you get into the studio design, you can basically optimize anything from color to the theme. The actual studio itself will have this format, but any of these can be embedded also inside of your own platform. So for this one, I’m just going to say this was the tool. Street 71. Price point, let’s just say 1.5 million. I’m not going to provide any additional context. And this is doing an analysis of that home, that zip code, that price point, who’s a potential buyer for this house, and how can we create a buyer snapshot. And this is what agents will use to incorporate into their process as they’re building relationships with potential sellers that they’ll work with to list their homes. And I can just tell you that a lot of agents don’t even know how to use ChatGPT or try to use it for Google. And I don’t say that in a way like there’s anything wrong with not understanding the difference there, but there’s a massive gap between super AI-savvy agents that incorporate this inside of their sales process versus someone that is still responding four days late after someone submits an inquiry about their home. Right? There’s a lot of value to speed in this game and also demonstrating that you’re competent. Big one.

So that’s one studio. The other one I mentioned that we had just recently built that we’re using as a call analyzer as a free tool for a partner I’m working with is inputting sales transcripts and then it’s analyzing a transcript and providing a snapshot report based on a framework that they are using that we’ve trained in the Pickax knowledge base to provide insight and feedback, a problem framing report, and then it’s leading to booking a strategy call. And then with this you can also open it up and ask it questions — anything else that I should be missing, it can do that. And then it just links back to a strategy call. You can see obviously the design, the color scheme, everything, there’s differences there. So you can do quite a bit in terms of the color and the setup of it, but you can also take any one of those and embed them somewhere else. So that if you have a Circle community or a GoHighLevel-like membership and gating pages, you can do that as well.

But with that said, Nathaniel, it is our time. Thank you for coming on and sharing with us what you’re building at Pickax. Again, guys, go to genaiu.com/pickax for 10% off your first three months. You can get started for free. And at the end of the day, powerful platform to be able to use AI, monetize your knowledge, expertise, enable your clients, yourself, and your workflows to make a bigger impact with what we’re doing. Thank you so much, Nathaniel.

Thank you guys. Good to see you.
